Or in other words “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche”.
This is perhaps the most infamous utterances in history. Many believe it is one of the catalysts for the French revolution.
Luckily we live in lest troubled times even if the press wants us to believe otherwise, so we can say ‘let them eat cake’ without the danger of losing our heads.
So the question is ‘what types of cake do you do?’ The good news is we’re always changing the selection of cakes and they are always home-baked with local, fresh ingredients where possible.
This month please welcome;
Lemon Sponge – Infused with fresh lemons and topped with a sweet lemon curd buttercream
Nutella Chocolate Brownie – ok this isn’t officially a cake but it is a cross between a cake and a soft cookie in texture. Of course it is fudgy and cakey.
Coffee & Walnut - Walnut and coffee cake or coffee and walnut cake is a cake made with a normal sponge cake recipe with the addition of coffee, usually either instant coffee or Camp Coffee, and walnut pieces.
Courgette and Avocado cake – Yes this does sound bizarre. But trust this is absolutely delicious. We garnish it with avocado oil, lime zest, sugar, and vanilla. The end result is something quite healthy but strangely moorish.
Chocolate fudge/ Beetroot Cake – Beetroot I hear you say? However it provides a lot of moisture and tastes delicious. It’s lovely and light, and a perfect Saturday afternoon treat.
Please note the above is a guide as our cake selection is always changing, but we do have one guarantee – our cakes are always moorish and something that is perfect for a afternoon of self-indulgence.
That leaves us on the note of “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche”.
